Preliminary Task 2
Sequence of different scenes flashes across screen.
EXT. EMPTY STREET – DAY
SASHA 1 - Professional dancer auditioning for a place at a professional dance school.
SASHA 1 is walking downhill toward sanctuary while speaking on the phone to her father.
SASHA (into phone)
But what if I fail?
PARENT (other end of the phone)
Oh, Honey, you’ll be fine. You always think something’s out to get you. (Soothingly)
CUT TO
BLACK SCREEN. TITLE FLASHES.
CUT TO
INT. SIDE STAGE
SASHA 1 is nervous to begin her audition.
SHE plays with her hands, kicks feet around.
CUT TO
INT. SANCTUARY. ON STAGE.
JUDGE 1 is sitting impatiently in the front row.
JUDGE 1
Sasha Peters? (Pause.) Peters? (Sighs.)
SASHA walks slowly toward the middle of the stage. Spotlights will be on SASHA.
SASHA 1
My name is Sasha Peters, I’ll be performing a ballet that I have choreographed myself. (Smiles and takes a deep breath before her face turns serious and music begins)
BACKSTAGE
SASHA 2 looks on at SASHA 1 during her dance.
Lights turn off, music cuts and a scream is heard. Lights turn on SASHA 1 is gone and JUDGES look baffled as there is no longer a girl on stage.
CUT TO
INT. DIMLY LIT BATHROOM.
SASHA 2 leans over the sink, hands firmly gripping the basin.
SASHA 2 lifts her head and looks up into the mirror, staring directly into her own eyes.
